My Bio
I would like to let you know a bit about myself. I am 24 years old. I have completed my studies at the University of Texas at Arlington. My focus in Theatre is Lighting Design and Special Effects. I have received a BFA in Theatre Arts. I have worked on many shows during my career. You can see the some of the credits on my resume.
In regards to my Special Effects background, I have taken Intro to electrical engineering classes and read up on the topics of AC distribution and paralleling generators. I have built an Industrial Controlled Alarm Clock (ICAC). The ICAC was a proof of concept device that controlled DMX, power, and audio from a computer to wake me up in the morning. Currently the ICAC is in the process of being rebuilt to run on a different embedded processor to add more inputs and outputs. The ICAC was featured on www.hackaday.com which is an electronics blog. you can see the write up here.
I recently filled the role of Technical Director for “The Chalky White Substance” by Tennessee Williams directed by Natalie Gaupp‎. As the Technical Director I was charged with lighting and sound design responsibilities and helping with some of the scenic aspects. I saw that the show was set in the future post nuclear war. I created a location of a canyon during the sunset. To represent this I came up with using side light as the primary light source. I used straw and amber to represent the sunset as time went on I slowly decreased the intensity of the light to mimic it. During the last moments of the play I made a design statement to emphasize that the sand is everywhere and that humans do what they need to do to survive.
I have written several different programs, using the C programming language, to control my LED signs. I wrote a Facebook application, using PHP, which allows a user to post to my LED sign and see it via a webcam. I like open source software. I dual boot Ubuntu Linux and Windows 7 on my laptops. On my home servers I run Ubuntu server edition. I was the President of Louisiana Tech Linux Users Group during the 2005 and 2006 school years. After I transferred to UTA I became an advisor to the group.
